Filmmaker and theatre practitioner Hamza Bangash, whose award-winning short film Dia had its world premiere at the 71st Locarno Film Festival last year, is all set for a premiere of his film in the Capital today (Saturday, December 14). Bangash, who recently won the MPA-AFA award for his feature film in development, titled Mariam, at Busan International Film Festival 2019, took to social media to announce the news.

“Islamabad, are you ready? The Dia Islamabad premiere is this Saturday!” Bangash wrote on his official Instagram handle. He further added that the event will be hosted by the prolific singer-songwriter Natasha Humera Ejaz, who has bagged this year’s prestigious SEPMA Award for Best Playback Singer, which will be followed by a Q & A with the cast and crew, including himself. “See you on Saturday, ISB!”

The premiere is scheduled to take place at FACE – Foundation for Arts, Culture & Education, Islamabad.

The 24-minute short is based on a true story of a girl, named Mariam (essayed by Nida Khan) and sheds light on mental illness. Earlier this year, the short had its premiere in London at the prestigious platform of BAFTA-qualifying London Short Film Festival (LSFF). It was also screened at the Dhaka International Film Festival, Bangladesh, and Jaipur International Film Festival, India.
