Music group Kashmir, featuring introverted friends turned winners of Pepsi Battle of the Bands 2 – Bilal Ali (Vocals), Usman Siddiqui (Bass), Ali Raza (Piano/Synth), Zair Zaki (Rhythm Guitar), Vais Khan (Lead Guitar) and Shane J.Anthoney (Drums/Percussion) were scheduled to play at the recently-held Creative Karachi Festival by T2F. But the band pulled out at the last minute.

Speaking to Instep, Bilal Ali noted that it was due to the passing of Vais Khan’s father. In a further conversation, Kashmir, who had plans to re-release their album properly along with a surprise of sorts this month, has pulled back on the release.

As Bilal noted, “It was supposed to release in October. It’s been pushed back to November-December.”

Since winning Pepsi Battle of the Bands 2, the band has released a series of fantastic music videos and collaborated with last year’s winners, Bayaan, for a performance on the grand finale of the most recent season of the show.

However, it was their song ‘Bhaago’ that had us riveted. Kashmir released a music video addressing depression with a song called ‘Pari’ and commercialism in music with a song called ‘Khwaab’.

“We don’t want to make music videos that are only performance-oriented and do not contain a narrative because our songs are also not without a narrative,” Bilal Ali told Instep in an earlier conversation.

Here’s hoping Vais Khan’s father rests in peace.
