Popularly known as Momo – not to be confused with music industry’s ‘Momo’ (Omran Shafique) – in the longest running sitcom Bulbulay, Hina Dilpazir has played some of the most versatile characters onscreen, particularly in plays like Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah. She made her big screen debut with Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi’s 7 Din Mohabbat In last year even as she continues working on television.

Currently playing the role of a brutal mother-in-law in Baandi, Hina Dilpazir also returned to the stage with Faran Tahir’s Bhai Bhai that is running at the Karachi Arts Council till February 10.

The play is an adaptation of Sam Shepard’s iconic comedy, True West and features Dilpazir as a mother of two aggressive adults, essayed by Faran and Ali Tahir.

Speaking to Instep on the sidelines of the play’s rehearsals, the actress shared that she would like to continue working in theatre alongside television and films. She has been offered some film projects but she is looking for something unusual than what she has previously portrayed.

“I have been offered multiple films but I have to see what potential the role has,” she shared. “In every project there is a mother who is comical, but I am done with this character now. I am looking for something interesting; not a mother who makes others laugh. If films will be made on a certain formula then I might not do films at all. If I get a good character, if I get a chance to do something really different (other than my past work), I will definitely do that.”

Dilpazir also noted that her role in Bhai Bhai is refreshing as it is very different. “For the character, the role is serious but for viewers it is very interesting,” she said on a parting note.
