After releasing the teasers of upcoming film Pinky Memsaab – that introduced us to the lead characters briefly – the official trailer of the movie has been launched and it certainly looks every bit intriguing.

Directed and written by debutant Shazia Ali Khan, Pinky Memsaab features Hajra Yamin as Pinky, a young woman from a small village in Punjab who travels to Dubai to work as a maid. The trailer starts off with Pinky explaining that since childhood she had red cheeks which earned her this nickname. Pinky decides to move to Dubai due to financial constraints and starts working as a maid for a Dubai-based writer and socialite Mehr, essayed by model turned actor Kiran Malik.

It goes on to show the bond that develops between Pinky and her ‘memsaab’ Mehr who teaches her ways to fit in by giving her English lessons, setting the table etc. The 2-minute long trailer also shows the complicated relationship between Mehr and her husband, essayed by Adnan Jaffer.

Moreover, the trailer unveils the character of Santosh, a happy go lucky chauffeur, played by Indian actor Sunny Hinduja. It also seems as if Pinky and Santosh might have a love sequence.

By the looks of the trailer, the film is about self-discovery, for both Pinky and Mehr. They can be seen fighting against class barriers and preconceived notions in order to discover who they truly are. Pinky can be seen going through the cultural shock of moving abroad, while Mehr struggles with her marital life and her aspiration of becoming a great writer.

The trailer ends on an interesting note where the narration states that everything seems perfect from a distance but in reality nothing is perfect.

Pinky Memsaab is an urban drama that highlights the intersecting lives of two women from two different worlds. Besides Hajra, Kiran, Adnan and Sunny, the upcoming film features Khalid Ahmed, Shamim Hilaly and Hajra Khan in important roles.

Dubbed as the ‘bitter-sweet tale of self-discovery’, Pinky Memsaab is all set to hit theatres on December 7, 2018.
