While the film has received mostly positive reviews and is a huge box office hit, the role of female characters in the film remains a question mark. One of them is Urwa Hocane who shared in a recent interview that the only reason she accepted the role was because she was associated with the first part as well.

Coming to the film’s other female star, Hania Amir, who made her big screen debut with Janaan last year, her views vary from co-star Hocane in significant fashion. Unlike Hocane, Amir was content with her role in Na Maloom Afraad 2 that released on Eid ul Azha, earlier this year.

“I was okay with the offer because first, I knew it to be a guys’ film with male lead characters and secondly, big names were attached to it,” Hania told Instep in an exclusive interview. “It was a big thing for me to be associated with a hit project and it’s really huge that they wanted me to be the new addition to the sequel. I was the new face in the series and I really liked that. They also gave me a scene where I could actually show that I can act so I enjoyed being a part of it. I liked the storyline and the actors from whom I learnt a lot. Na Maloom Afraad 2 was a great experience and the entire team was amazing to work with.”

Hania is also gearing up for her third film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon (PHJ) that will feature her in the lead role. However, she is of the view that artists should not get bogged down in labels like lead role and supporting role but should instead focus on what the character has to offer.

Sharing her experience from the set of PHJ, the actor said, “While shooting for PHJ, I noticed that the work of supporting actors was more interesting than mine. I feel it all depends on the story and what the role entails, irrespective of screen time.”

Aside from films, the actor is currently playing the role of a young girl who is a victim of child marriage in Angeline Malik’s new social drama Mujhay Jeenay Doh. The new TV production revolves around women-centric themes with a particular focus on ‘child marriage’.

Expanding on her sentiment and how she feels to be associated with a project that has social connotation, Hania noted, “It feels wonderful because someone has to say it. I feel proud to be a part of this initiative as it gives me some power to spread an important message.”

Speaking about her experience with TV plays so far and the characters she has played on small screen, she added, “When I did my first play, Phir Wohi Mohabbat, I wasn’t sure of what I was doing. It had a lot of rona dhona but after that I knew that if I’m offered a similar character, I won’t accept the offer.

So in my second play, Titli, that was similar in theme to Beauty and the Beast, I took up a character that was very interesting. And the one in Mujhay Jeenay Doh is also really good. I have decided that I will agree to only those characters that make sense to me and I really feel like doing them.”

Coming back to her upcoming Air Force film, Parwaaz Hai Junoon, the film is expected to come out in December this year. “There are two storylines in the film,” Hania informed while talking about her part in the film. “In one, I play a very bubbly, happy-go-lucky kind of a girl while the other one has a tragic spin to it.”
