Film and TV actress Tooba Siddiqui, who appeared in Mehreen Jabbar’s film Dobara Phir Se last year, makes her TV comeback with new drama serial Iltija. Starring as the protagonist opposite Affan Waheed, Siddiqui plays the role of a mother of two disabled children in the play.
“I’ve returned to television after a gap of four years,” Siddiqui told Instep. “In Iltija, which is already on air, I’m playing the role of a mother of two disabled children, one of whom has Down syndrome.”
The actress also informed that the play addresses the subject of Down syndrome which is a very common medical condition in our part of the world. It also talks about how to go about it and what are the options available for treatment.
“Iltija talks about how the family members turn their back when such a situation arises. It becomes very difficult for the mother to face their attitudes and deal with the issue unless she gives up on her children with special needs.”
Iltija revolves around socio-medical issues but like every other play, this too is incomplete without a love story. “It also talks about the love story between the two parents,” Siddiqui concluded.
