Following the ban placed on Pakistani artists working in India, the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has issued a notice against Indian content. In a meeting held at PEMRA Headquarters on Wednesday, board members have taken the decision to ban all Indian content on TV as well as radio channels.

“The Authority (PEMRA) has put a blanket ban on airing Indian content on satellite TV channels and FM Radio,” states an official statement issued by PEMRA. “This decision is in accordance with the government’s response to the summary [of the issue] that allows the Authority to take any decision they find necessary regarding Indian content.”

According to the statement released, the ban will be imposed from October 21, 3pm onwards and the channels that do not comply will have to bear severe consequences. “If any TV channel or FM Radio goes against the ban, the authority will cancel their license/s without issuing show-cause notice,” reads the statement.
