Trump slams Norway over Nobel Peace Prize snub: ‘Indelible stain’

President Donald Trump has once again made his point over not receiving the Nobel Peace Prize this year while calling this year’s Norway decision “disgraceful and embarrassing.”

On Friday, the Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the prestigious award to South Africa's Navanethem “Navi” Pillay for her massive contributions in promoting peace, justice, international law and defending human rights.

Hours after the announcement, Trump told a rally that he had never heard of the mystery person. Even on his Truth Social account, the President wrote, “I know nothing about this woman, and neither does anyone else! In fact, to the best of my knowledge, no one ever heard of her other than the fact that she, very obviously, hates Israel. I don’t know what the woman has done.”

“The United States of America, represented by me, as your President, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize, but didn’t. This is an indelible stain on Norway, one that will never be forgotten,” the statement reads.

He also slammed the committee’s decision and declared that the Peace Prize has forever been discredited by “a handful of Radical Ideologues who are Anti-Democracy, and Enemies of Civilization!”

When it comes to the Nobel Peace Prize, President Trump has also vouched for this prestigious award citing his contributions in ending the eight wars.

In the post, he made this point why he has always been worthy of this prestigious award. According to Trump, he ended eight wars, referring to conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Pakistan and India, Israel and Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan & Israel and Hamas. Therefore “In actuality, I should have won 8 Nobel Peace Prizes, not just 1.”

In 2025 when Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado won the award, Trump made similar criticism over the prize snub.

President Trump’s remarks come after Navi Pillay joked about sharing the Peace prize with Trump.

Her colleagues clapped for her for a long duration. Responding to the applause, Pillay quipped, “If you clap a little bit more I may share this prize with Trump.” And the audience broke into laughter.
