Singer-songwriter Shafqat Amanat Ali, who has lent his voice to several Bollywood songs, in a surprising move, has broken his silence on the growing rift between Pakistan and India post Uri attack.

The ‘Mitwa’ singer was scheduled to perform in Bengaluru, India on September 30 but his show was cancelled due to escalating Indo-Pak tension. Upset over the fact that artists are being targeted, Khan is quoted saying: “It’s really sad because the artist fraternity allows an opportunity of dialogue between two countries.”

Not mincing his words on the subject, Khan condemned all terror attacks everywhere and stated, “I condemn terror attacks that happen anywhere in the world. It is always good to have peace between two countries. No one wants war as we all know the end results. If there is firing from one side, the other side always responds in the same way and that’s what is happening today.”

“I live in Pakistan and you live in India, so you have to support your Army and I will have to support mine,” he asserted. “We are hearing from all sides about the surgical strikes, but we know that it was just cross-border firing which keeps happening at the LoC. Right now, it isn’t the time to debate whether it was a surgical strike or cross-border firing, but time for powers from both countries to sit down for a discussion and find out a solution to bring peace.”
