Anyone who has attended a Sounds of Kolachi gig can tell you this much: the band is always trying something new. For one particular show, they collaborated with music wizard Mekaal Hasan. In another instance, they played a show that featured them alongside artists from the electronic scene such as Bilal Brohi and Faisal Baig.

Therefore unsurprisingly, the band will be working with yet another famous name from the music scene, Sara Haider, in an upcoming show. Haider, having won a Lux Style Award for Best Emerging Talent, circa 2015, is a growing name in the industry, starting her musical career from Grease, the musical, to landing a gig alongside Ali Zafar in Coke Studio Season 8. Aside from Haider, the gig will also feature guitar maestro, Faraz Anwar.

According to Ahsan Bari, founder of SOK, the band tried to collaborate with Haider in the past, but was unable to due to many reasons. However, this time, the two names will finally be sharing the stage.

“As you may have noticed in all our previous shows, we are very interested in creating something new for each of our performances,” Bari spoke to Instep in a brief telephonic conversation. While Bari didn’t completely reveal what the band is planning for the show, he did share that Haider will be singing some Sufi songs with the band. Bari also added that Pakistan Youth Festival specially requested for Haider as she is very popular amongst the youth.

The concert will be taking place at The Arts Council on October 1 as part of the closing ceremony for the Pakistan Youth Festival.
