It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Adele has become one of the biggest stars in global music right now. The singer-songwriter made one of the most successful comebacks with the album 25 after a break of four years and won hearts everywhere. The album beat the FIFA ’16 computer game to become UK’s biggest-selling home entertainment title of 2015, selling 2,604,850 copies by the end of 2015, just a few weeks after its release.

The album beat the FIFA ’16 computer game to become UK’s biggest-selling home entertainment title of 2015, selling 2,604,850 copies by the end of 2015, just a few weeks after its release.

After making headlines for her performance at Glastonbury festival, Adele’s 25 has topped the UK album chart with a 231 per cent rise in sales since the festival. Her third album’s long-awaited release on streaming services has also helped it claim a 13th week at number one. Latest stats from Music Week  also reveal that “Adele beat out the rest of the performances with a peak audience of 3.7 million, making her set the most-watched Saturday headline performance since 2008”.

Apart from 25, two other acts also experienced a boost in album charts post their high-profile appearances at Glastonbury. Coldplay, who closed the event on Sunday night,  saw their new album, A Head Full of Dreams climb three places to two whereas ELO’s greatest hits compilation, All Over the World climbed four places to three following Jeff Lynne’s appearance in the festival’s Sunday afternoon ‘legends’ slot.
