The Pakistan Navy detected an Indian submarine and stopped it from entering Pakistani waters.
KARACHI: Days after Pakistan shot down two Indian aircraft in a tit-for-tat response for violation of its airspace, , the Pakistan Navy has foiled Indian Navy's attempt to intrude into its waters.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the Pakistan Navy detected an India submarine and stopped it from entering Pakistani waters.
The Pakistan Navy foiled every attempt of Indian submarine to avoid being detected, the statement said.
A spokesman for the Pak Navy said it was the second occasion since 2016 when it has detected an Indian submarine trying to enter Pakistani waters.
The navy also released video of the submarine with the grainy black and white footage showing only what appeared to be a periscope above water. The timestamp on the video clip shows it began at 8.35 pm on Monday.
"The Submarine was detected and localized in Pakistan’s maritime zone on 04 March 19. The submarine could have been easily engaged and destroyed had it not been Pakistan’s policy to exercise restraint in the face of Indian aggression and to give peace a chance to prevail," said the statement.
"Learning a lesson from this incident, India too should show its inclination towards peace".
The spokesman said the achievement was an evidence of Pakistan Navy's capabilities which is ready to defend country's maritime frontiers.
The Pakistan Navy is capable of giving a jaw breaking response to any aggression , the statement said.
