Her first day here she asked if she could sit with me, said a student recalling Sabika Sheikh's first day at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas, United States.
The Pakistani student lost her life in the school shooting on Friday , days before she was about to return to her country.
Anger and grief sorrow in after 17-year old student killed nine students and a teacher at Santa Fe high school in Texas on Friday, calling for and end to gun violence.
A female student who identified herself as only Sammm on Twitter said Sabika was nervous enough being at a new school on her first day.
"She was supposed to go back home on June 8th back to her friends and family after being separated for 10 months.
This is why gun violence needs to stop. So innocent souls like Sabika won't perish to such a horrible fate.
Sabika was supposed to have the year of her life in the states, not lose it whilst being far from home," Ramy Bary, foremr exchange student in US said in a string of tweets.
Another student said Sabika came to the US to learn and was getting ready to go back for Ramadan.
"And now this poor baby has to go back to Pakistan in a coffin"
Sabika Sheikh, resident of Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, was part of the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) programme for her stay in the US and had to return home in June.
She was among 75 Pakistani students who were selected to study abroad under the scholarship programme.
