LSA’18 to highlight campaign #MaiBhi, a spinoff of the West’s #MeToo movement
Already trending by the catchphrase #MaiBhi, LSA 2018 aims to inspire anyone who has been through the traumatic experience. It urges both men and women to speak up about sexual harassment and overcome the pain that they have been through.
KARACHI: The latest edition of Lux Style Awards is inspired by the #MeToo campaign to express solidarity with women who have faced sexual harassment in some way or the other in their lives.
Already trending by the catchphrase #MaiBhi, LSA 2018 aims to inspire anyone who has been through the traumatic experience. It urges both men and women to speak up about sexual harassment and overcome the pain that they have been through.
The campaign is a brainchild of Frieha Altaf, who herself has been through the disturbing incident.
“Lux Style Awards 2018 will serve as the movement’s launchpad. I feel like not many local celebrities are speaking up and speaking out for causes and this is a way to bring the entire industry onboard for a human rights campaign,” Frieha told, further stating that this movement is a joint collaboration with Calpak Education Services.
The #MaiBhi campaign has undertones of other social issues that are intended to be brought to the forefront - such as child abuse, sexual harassment, underage marriage, neglect of women’s rights and others – as it aims to educate masses via singing performances and other art forms throughout.
The #MaiBhi movement, will also unite the entire industry, including celebrities, activists, designers, etc.
The ceremony of the Lux Style Awards 2018 will be held in Lahore on the 21st of this month.
