Ivanka’s visit to Western Wall, Jews' holy site in Jerusalem

TEL AVIV: US President Donald Trump is on his first foreign trip to Israel after Saudi Arabia. First lady Melania Trump, daughter Ivanka Trump and son-in-law Jared Kusher are accompanied with him.

Trump and his family on Monday visited the Western Wall, the holiest site where Jews pray in Jerusalem. Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner both practicing Orthodox Jews.

On Friday, they had to receive a rabbinical dispensation to travel, the Jewish Sabbath, a White House official said.

After visiting the Western Wall, Donald Trump becomes first US sitting president to visit the site.

Former US President Barack Obama had also visited the holy site in 2008, however, he was not president at that time.
