'Heartbroken' Prince William makes private plea to Earl Spencer

The friends of Prince William have made shocking claims that the Prince of Wales is “struggling” having so many old wounds reopened after Princess Diana’s brother Earl Spencer book was published.

The friends have also claimed that the future king has made a private plea to his uncle to leave the past alone.

The close insiders said, “William’s heartbroken this is all being dragged up again.”

Prince William has ‘begged Uncle Charlie to just let his mum rest in peace’, the source said and added, “He doesn’t want her turned into another chapter or make family tensions worse.”

The New Idea, citing the royal sources, has reported Prince William is not ‘looking for a public row – only for the circus to stop at her grave.’

“He has spent his whole adult life trying to protect her memory. This has undone a lot of that. He can’t see himself ever trusting his uncle again.”

Spencer has alleged in the memoir that the then-Prince Charles told him "rest assured, we'll forget her soon enough."

The reported comments were made in an argument over whether Diana and Charles' children, Prince William and Harry, should walk behind her coffin during her funeral — something Spencer objected to, the report ⁠said.

Earl Spencer also talked about William and Harry in the book, saying “I think there is a perception in the media that I am on Harry’s side. Well, I’m on my deceased sister’s sons’ side, both of them.”
