Prince William speaks to Canadian PM Mark Carney

Prince William on Monday spoke by telephone with the Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney.

This was the first conversation between the Prince of Wales and Mark Carney since the Canadian prime minister took office.

They discussed "the enduring strength of the UK-Canada relationship, as well as The Prince of Wales' longstanding affection for Canada and its people."

Prince William and his wife, Kate Middleton last visited Canada in 2016.

The Prince and Princess of Wales were received by then prime minister Justin Trudeau at a military airport in the western province of British Columbia.

The couple then had the titles of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and brought their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte on the week-long trip. 

It was the first time the couple have brought their children on an official visit to Canada.
