Here's why King Charles responded to Charles Spencer's bombshell claims

King Charles' unusual response to claims made by Charles Spencer about Princess Diana has been described as unprecedented by royal author Ingrid Seward.

Spencer's upcoming memoir, Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, has already made headlines over excerpts concerning Diana's death and her former husband, then-Prince Charles.

However, King Charles' spokesperson issued a statement addressing the allegations. "While we do not comment on books as a matter of principle, His Majesty is mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgment and colour memory in ways others do not recognise, even many years after such a loss."

The statement caught the attention of Seward, who described the monarch's response as highly unusual.

"I think that Charles felt very strongly about this, because I've never heard a statement like this before. And he must have considered the implications of it and realised, you know, this is going to cause more agony, so he felt so strongly. I think that it was put out pretty swiftly," the expert said as per Hello! Magazine.

Spencer has alleged that Charles sounded "giddily elated" when he learned of Diana’s death and recalled an alleged comment made before her funeral.

It is pertinent to mention that Charles Spencer's memoir Swan Song: Diana, My Sister is due to be published on September 22.
