Trump says 'historic' U.S. military base in Poland could be announced soon

President Donald Trump said a historic step in the U.S.-Poland strategic relationship could see the U.S. Army build a base in Poland, praising his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, for his leadership.

Trump said the location of the potential base could be announced soon, calling the move a historic step for the U.S.-Polish alliance.

"President Trump: GREAT NEWS! Thanks to the bold leadership of my friend, Karol Nawrocki, President of Poland, major progress is being made toward establishing a U.S. Army base in Poland," he wrote on Truth Social.

However, the president said the announcement could soon be made about the base.

"If this happens, the location will be announced very soon," he penned.

If it goes through, Trump said the decision would be a key leap in the U.S.-Polish alliance.

"This will be a historic step for our Great U.S./Polish Alliance. Thank you for your attention to this matter," he wrote.
