Kanye West brings out controversial rapper who Chicago hasn't seen in years

When Kanye West returned to his hometown of Chicago, he brought a lineup of surprising artists. Chief Keef is one of them.

“Chief Sosa in the f***** building, yes sir,” Ye announced, making the crowd in the stadium erupt.

As both are native to Chicago, Keef's return to perform in his city has been surreal for him.

The musician has largely refrained from performing there.

Due to the rap genre, Keef introduced drill music, a type of rap music often associated with gang violence, which led some authorities to believe this could add to violence.

That is why then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel's administration portrayed Keef and his impact on society negatively.

As a result, Chicago venues reportedly closed their doors to him.

Even his hologram appearance at a concert in Hammond, Indiana, was shut down by the police in 2015.

But it appears the strictness around Keef's public performances is loosening as he performed his hit track Love Sosa when West brought him on stage.

In an interview with the Chicago Sun-Times, he said, “I didn’t think I would make it as far as Soldier Field."

Given the expanse of West's stage, Keef remarked, “And then the stage is crazy; I’ve never been on a stage like that before. That was cool, bro, to be with all the ‘Chiraq’ legends.”

Meanwhile, Ye has been on the tour after being previously dogged by controversies, which virtually made him a pariah in the industry.
