Sara Bareilles opens up about ‘really hard’ time due to miscarriage
Sara Bareilles revealed she went through a very tough miscarriage
Sara Bareilles had a miscarriage this year.
The 46-year-old singer has been open about her fertility struggles, and she has now shared that after undergoing multiple rounds of IVF with husband Joe Tippett, she tragically experienced a pregnancy loss.
She told the New York Times newspaper, “It sucks. Of course, I wish I didn’t have a miscarriage.”
However, the Love Song hitmaker admitted that, after a tough period, which included the 2024 death of her close friend Gavin Creel, who partly inspired her new album Good Grief, it was a bit of a "relief" not to be pregnant because this era of her life “would be really, really, really hard” if she was carrying a child.
Last month, Sara spoke of how she "wrestled" with not knowing if she could have children.
Speaking on The Zach Sang Show, the musician said, "I really wrestled because I found so little material out in the world of people talking about their fertility struggles.”
"I found a lot of evidence of people talking about how hard it was to get pregnant once they had a healthy baby in their arms, but I didn’t find a lot of people talking; it’s not that there’s none, but I didn’t find a lot of people talking from the sort of, like, messy middle,” she further said.
The Girls5Eva star then revealed the gruelling reality of fertility treatment and how demanding it can be.
"The amount of time you spend in these clinics, and it's like blood draws, and sometimes you're going in three, four times a week, and they're checking hormone levels, and you're getting your medications, and you're sticking yourself with needles, and you're on these crazy drugs,” Sara explained.
She continued, "But the number of women I would encounter on any given day, just like little soldiers, just like coming in before they go to work, or not, or whatever, and just like doing the thing. And doing, it’s like that line, I’m just swimming where they tell me to until I can’t swim no more.”
"Like that, there is this total sense of surrender and powerlessness that you just have to make peace with because this is not something that is entirely in my control,” the songstress expressed as she spoke of the process.
"And no amount of money that I’m throwing at it, no amount of, like, it is just not entirely up to me how this looks. And that is so hard,” Sara Bareilles said of experiencing fertility issues.
