Gary Oldman makes clear prediction about new 'Harry Potter' show while comparing it to film series

The Harry Potter book series can be perceived as a tome. Undoubtedly, when they had to be adapted for a film, it was a tall task.

Nonetheless, it happened. However, in the process, several character moments and pieces of development had to be axed.

This led to a recent comment by Gary Oldman, who famously portrayed Sirius Black.

“We had to cut a lot [for the ‘Harry Potter’ movies], and still we could only get the films down to, like, three hours,” Oldman said, adding that “a lot of character detail was sacrificed in the process."

He then added that the upcoming series on Harry Potter will fix this, which has much screen time compared to the films to cover the books.

"I believe [the HBO series] can do it pretty much word-for-word, which I think, as a viewer, would be more satisfying," the actor told EW.
