YouTube integrates Amazon shopping into videos: What it means for creators
YouTube creators can now tag Amazon products in their videos and livestreams
YouTube has integrated Amazon products directly into YouTube Shorts, long-form videos and livestreams. The YouTube Shopping affiliate program now let's eligible US creators tag products from a curated Amazon catalog directly in videos.
Viewers can now click to buy on Amazon with creators earning significant commissions through AdSense to boost clicks over 110% in tests compared to description links.
The primary motive behind the new update is to turn product recommendations into a more direct revenue stream for creators-a significant move to put a massive online marketplace inside one of the most popular video-sharing platforms.
Regarding the new update, YouTube says Amazon will provide it with a compiled assortment of highly requested and trending products that creators can tag in their videos.
Currently, only eligible US creators can tag Amazon products which can then be seen internationally. In this connection, YouTube confirmed that it may match tagged products with a trusted local merchant to allow creators to earn commissions on eligible global purchases.
It is pertinent to mention here that creators enrolled in YouTube’s Partner and Shopping Affiliate programs, must need an Active Influencer or Associates account linked to their YouTube channel.
