Ridley Scott makes bold claim about his Hollywood career
The filmmaker also reveals why he won’t make the same movie twice
Sir Ridley Scott has labelled himself as "an influencer" in Hollywood.
The English filmmaker, known for his sci-fi films, told The Times newspaper that he believes he has always been "ahead of the game" in the movie industry.
He said that he has been part of the industry for decades and came up with innovative movies that end up being successful at the box office.
"Look, everything now is about a murdered girl in the woods, or an FBI agent who is better than anyone else - or a superhero. F*** me! There have to be other stories to tell...," Ridley shared.
The Alien director further added, "I never want to repeat myself and all my films have been on the money. I’ve been ahead of the game frequently and, if you’re ahead of the game, you’re an influencer. So I’m not a filmmaker, I’m an influencer."
However, there are still a few genres he has never made movies in and also wanted to dip his toes in a musical film.
"I’ve never done a western. I have cast Hugh Jackman for my Treasure Island adaptation. I want to do a musical and, also, have a marvellous film about the African elephant."
Ridley is currently working on his upcoming movie, based on Louis Stevenson's classic novel, starring Hugh Jackman, who will be portraying legendary pirate Long John Silver.
