Keith Urban weeps as he sings about past 'love' amid Nicole Kidman divorce
The country star could not hold his tears while singing an emotional song
Keith Urban was seen fighting back his tears on stage as he sang a poignant song about losing a former lover amid reports that Nicole Kidman has started dating a new man.
On Friday, at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, the 58-year-old country singer took the stage and performed his song We Go Back, featured in his latest album, Flow State.
Just moments before he began to sing, Keith unveiled a bittersweet story behind the track that it was about a childhood sweetheart who split after the man made a mistake.
He told the audience, "This song is about a guy and a girl growing up in a small town. They were the first of their friends to fall in love. They had a good thing going, until the guy screwed it up. I will do that."
Keith continued to share that years later the former lovers crossed paths, "This guy can't believe it. He sees the girl, she looks exactly the same. They start talking, they are getting along great. She tells him she's got somebody else."
At the very moment Keith dropped the chorus talked about the man's deep regret of letting go of his woman and realizing that it's too late.
He then said to the crowd, "This is why we keep coming back to Atlantic City."
Keith's emotional comment and performance came months after he finalized his divorce with Nicole after almost 20 years of marriage.
Notably, the story of the ex-lover moving on with another man has raised eyebrows as it came amid rumors of Nicole moving on with a new man, businessman Michael Reinstein.
However, Keith did not suggest it was about his and Nicole's love story.
