Prince Harry, Meghan get dropped like flies: ‘This woman only bets on the right horse'

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been through the ringer this week, not just because of the Diana earring fiasco, but also in light of the reviews her Cookie Queen’s movie received. Then prior to this, Oprah came forward with her own take on the interview she did with the Sussexes when they first moved across the pond.

Now its become a huge chunk of the conversation because she is one of the few stars to publicly distance herself from the couple, and put it out there for the world to see simultaneously.

As for this conversation where Celebrity news reporter Rob Shuter sat down for The Nerve with Maureen Callahan, the topic came up and the gossip columnist was candid right off the bat.

In one of the YouTube Shorts clip it starts with him saying, “I did speak to a couple of people who know Oprah, and they said that she's surprisingly quick to move on-- When she's done, she's done. When she decides that she doesn't care anymore, she doesn't care anymore. So, with Harry and Meghan, it was very transactional. She pretended to be their best friends, they thought they were her best friends, (until that interview was done,) and then pretty much after that interview, she dropped them.”

Mr Shuter also took a trip down memory lane after that comment and admitted, “I remember the last time I went to I used to work for Alicia Keys, and Alicia and Oprah were friends, and so I was there with Alicia Keys backstage before the show-- Oprah was charming. She came into Alicia's dressing room, I was sitting on the couch. It was a big moment for me, just staring at Oprah. I was really sort of excited by her. Then the taping went great.” But “the minute the show ended, the second that last note played from her theme song, boom, she's gone. Out of there, out of there quicker than anybody.”

“So I think this is another example of Oprah just wanting to be out. She doesn't want to do this anymore, and she's certainly not going to use her capital to help Harry and Meghan. Oprah tries to bet on the right horse. She tries to find people who are in the moment, and then when it gets a bit ugly, (we saw this with Michael Jackson,) then she withdrew draws immediately.”

“So, I think Harry and Meghan now have become too toxic even for for Oprah.”

“What is she going to ask them? And what are they going to answer? And I think the interview that we want is not an interview that they're ever going to do. So, why bother?”
