Christopher Nolan rewrites history with 'The Odyssey' as war epic blockbuster run continues
Christopher Nolan already had hit films, but 'The Odyssey' changed everything for him
Despite reaching a month of release and – not to mention Spider-Man: Brand New Day's spectacular run – the British director's film is still going at breakneck speed.
According to Variety, the epic adventure starring Matt Damon rocketed through $1.1 billion globally, beating Nolan's previous hit works, including The Dark Knight Rises.
Not stopping there, The Odyssey has also left its mark on IMAX and become the highest-grossing movie ever released in the particular format, beating James Cameron's Avatar.
Together, the haul from domestic and international put Nolan's film in the second spot in 2026's biggest movies.
Not to mention, The Odyssey is yet to hit China, one of the largest film markets, which will further skyrocket the global box office of the epic drama.
The film will open in China on Aug 14.
