John Ross Bowie has admitted that leaving his Big Bang Theory role behind after filming the spinoff was a bigger challenge.

As he reprises his role as Kripke in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, the actor told People Magazine that his character's speech patterned returned almost immediately because he continued practicing it through cameos. "I’ve stayed in practice, so it snapped back pretty quickly."

However, he noted, "The challenge this time was getting rid of it because normally I would do an episode and then I’d be gone for six months. Then I’d come back and do another episode. But to be there every day for whatever it was, 13, 14 weeks, it was harder to get rid of the speech impediment than it was to bring it back."

"It wasn’t really that hard because for one thing, I do Cameos. I do the little video messages, and more often than not people want to hear the voice."

Unlike the original series, where John would typically film an episode before spending months away from Kripke, the new production kept him in character for roughly 13 or 14 weeks.

According to Bowie, Bert, wo was Kripke's friend, played by Brian Posehn, brings out a patience in Kripke that audiences have rarely seen. "Bert is the lovable bunny rabbit of the show. He brings out a patience in Kripke that we have not gotten a chance to see before," John Ross Bowie said.
