EA Sports FC 27: 3 Editions, prices, early access dates
Pre-orders are live for the September 25 launch, with Ultimate Team packs now classed as gambling content
EA Sports FC 27 will carry a PEGI 16 age rating when it launches on 25 September, the first time in the franchise's history it hasn't been rated for all ages. The change has nothing to do with violence or language.
It's down to Football Ultimate Team's loot box packs, which regulators now treat as gambling mechanics.
What to expect from EA Sports FC 27
It debuts for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with Kylian Mbappé reprising his role as cover star.
A new social space, The Grounds, allows customisation of avatars and participation in casual games but is available only on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Switch 2.
EA Sports FC 27 price and availability
There are three versions being provided. The Standard version is priced at £69.99/$69.99 and the Ultimate version at £99.99/$99.99, and there is also a new Ultimate Plus version available for $149.99.
The Ultimate Plus edition will be available to order till 31 August; after that date it is not going to be available any more, unlike the other editions which are available all year round.
The users of the Ultimate and Ultimate Plus editions are entitled to play this game for seven days before its official release date, which is 18 September. Users of the EA Play service can test this game in a 10-hour trial period.
PEGI announced in March that any game featuring paid randomised items, or loot boxes, in other words, would default to a PEGI 16 rating under rules that took effect in June.
