James Van Der Beek's widow looks back at their romance on first wedding anniversary after his death

James Van Der Beek, best known for Dawson's Creek, passed earlier this year, and now his widow Kimberly Van Der Beek has marked the pair's 16th wedding anniversary.

In a post on Instagram, the 44-year-old looked back at their romance, sharing, “16 years ago I was the luckiest woman in the world to marry @vanderjames."

"The beauty of this marriage continues to unfold every day with all these incredible children we have. He continues to be present and guide us. I’m eternally grateful.”

The post seems to have a similar emotional depth to Kimberly's statement when she announced her husband's passing.

“Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith and grace,” she wrote at the time.

“There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity, and the sacredness of time. Those days will come."

"For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother and friend," the statement read.

Van Der Beek died after suffering from colorectal cancer at the age of 48, and he leaves behind Kimberly and six children.
