King Charles’ clever plan with Prince Harry broken down: ‘The monarchy gave them nothing’

Its been a week since King Charles met with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s children at Highgrove House, and commentators are constantly breaking down thing after thing that the monarch did that ‘prove’ he is not being swayed by his emotions and instead is acting with both head and heart in line.

The author that made this clear was royal writer Ingrid Seward, and her admissions have been made in a chat with Womans’ Day.

In her view, whatever move has been made, and decision was made was for a reason. Because “I’m sure Charles felt that he had to find time to do this while the whole family was here and if he didn’t do it now, it would become an insurmountable problem,” she said.

Another thing she clarified was that this wasn’t ‘surrender’ to Prince Harry’s demands by any means, effectively “it was a grandfather wanting to see his grandchildren. People are confusing compassion with capitulation. Yes, the meeting happened. But look at what didn’t happen. There was no official photograph. No public embrace. No balcony moment. No joint statement declaring a new chapter. No announcement restoring Harry’s role. No change to security arrangements. No constitutional shift. The monarchy gave away absolutely nothing.”

Moreover, she also feels the choice to host the Duke at Highgrove was a very sensible move because it was once the home he shared with Princess Diana and reportedly, the King was even “delighted to show his grandchildren around Highgrove, which is his pride and joy”.

Even though she highlighted the fact that the Firm ‘give away nothing’ since this meeting, another thing she pointed out was that the meeting was likely more so ‘a diplomatic interim moment’.

Regarding this she clarified, “It had to be done for Harry, for the King and for the grandchildren.”

While many sources have highlighted Prince Harry’s hope to get his children closer to his father, where Meghan Markle is concerned, Ms Ingrid has a few choice words because in her view, “I feel Meghan needed the stardust of royalty to make her look more relevant than she is at this moment.”
