Prince Harry laughs off 'too posh for football' taunt in viral TV moment
The Duke of Sussex fires back at 'too posh to play soccer' jibe during live TV appearance
Prince Harry has shut down the claim that he was "too posh" to play football at school.
The Duke of Sussex recently appeared on James Corden's Fox Sports show, where he opened up about his love of the sport.
During the interview James asked Harry, "I thought you went to a school that was too posh to play soccer?"
To which he replied, "Well, I played football. Why are you calling it soccer? ... It was such a posh school that everything was an option. There was a football team."
When asked if he was "any good," to which the royal memeber responded, "In prep school I was in the first team. And then I went to the bigger school and I was in the E team, being A team down to E team. So that didn't feel very good."
Elsewhere in the interview, Harry also shared his thoughts on the England team's performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
"I think what we saw was a slight shock value for them. 'S**t, we are 1-0 up against Argentina' and there was this immediate temptation to fall into defence," the prince said.
Harry further stated that he was not convinced England manager Thomas Tuchel had forced the team to adopt a defensive strategy, which led to their defeat in the match.
"I don't think it was a tactic. I don't think that was the plan. It just happened. After 72-73 minutes, whatever it was, you can't just defend a 1-0 lead against a team like that," said the Duke of Sussex.
"You just can't. The mindset is the belief. The fact that you are 1-0 up, believe that you can be 2-0 up," Harry added.
