Can $2 million fix your problems? Billy Markus’s question goes viral
Would $2 million fix your problems: Here is what people think
Dogecoin co-creator Billy Markus took the internet by storm when he posed the question, “ Would $2 million fix your problems?”-tapping into a mix of viral curiosity and subtle irony.
Markus’s post captivated the attention of several users on social platforms, garnering 2,000 likes and over 1,300 replies with many sharing how the money would clear debt, buy cars and free from prioritizing personal fulfillment.
In response to this post, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk shared a thinking emoji. According to Elon Musk, we have been thinking about the economy all wrong because people are often confusing the economy with money.
Money is primarily a database for the exchange of goods and services, while the actual economy consists of the goods and services themselves.
It is a frame of reference to redirect the attention away from dollars and toward what actually matters, the things people build, produce and create.
On social platform X, this post sparked a wave of compelling comments with one user writing, “100k would fix every money problem as well as put me 5 years ahead to own a home. Time is more valuable than anything. 2 million would pay for a house outright and allow me to work part time for the rest of my life while I pursue my hobbies and goals in life.”
Second lamented, “Unfortunately no, but it could help me avoid the problems, it won't resolve them, but it would help me avoid the problems, they would certainly still exist. In terms of financial concerns sure, 2 million would solve every financial issue I have, but my biggest issue is not finance.”
The third said: “Money doesn't fix problems, but it would clear a little debt and give me and my family a piece of mind should we have to care for another family member during the end of life.”
Nonetheless, some people asserted that they would build a business plan with their family, but prime importance lies in the struggle of achieving success. The struggle is what shapes someone to achieve ultimate excellence.
