King Charles reacts to England's world cup exit during latest outing
King Charles cracks bear joke after England's crushing world cup exit
King Charles showed his disappointment over England's world cup exit.
During his visit to the Hall & Woodhouse Badger Brewery in Dorset with Queen Camilla on Thursday, July 16, just one day after England suffered a dramatic 2-1 semifinal defeat to Argentina, the monarch cracked a joke referencing the football loss.
As he sampled the brewery's locally made ales and pulled a pint behind the bar, Charles quipped that it was "a good day to drown a few sorrows," referencing England's painful exit from the tournament.
It is pertinent to mention that Buckingham Palace shared a message praising the national team for its efforts after the defeat.
The statement read: "Commiserations to Harry and the team. While you Three Lions may be licking your wounds today, you remain the pride of a nation – and will rise again."
On the other hand, Prince William, huge sports fan also wrote, "England, you gave it everything, and we are all so proud of you."
"Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high. W," the Prince of Wales added.
