Elon Musk has responded to Apple's lawsuit against OpenAI, alleging that the ChatGPT maker orchestrated a systemic campaign to steal trade secrets.

The accusations also involve that the tech giant used these trade secrets surrounding confidential hardware designs and manufacturing processes to manufacture their own devices.

Taking to X, the 54-year-old also fired back at OpenAI, “They sure put a lot of effort into this crime.”

In another post, Elon Musk blasted OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, stating “He takes scamming to a whole new level.” The CEO of SpaceX posted this tweet in response to his resurfaced March post in which Musk predicted that Altman is good at scamming.

Musk has always been wary about the intentions of OpenAI. Even when in June 2024 Apple announced its collaboration with OpenAI, using its operating system. Back then, Musk raised concerns about the privacy issues that Apple could face in the future.

For the unversed, the controversy stems from Apple’s allegations, claiming Chang Liu who is former senior electrical engineer at Apple, retained an Apple-issued laptop and exploited a security vulnerability to breach the company’s internal network, ending up downloading confidential hardware files.

As per lawsuit, Tang Yew Tan, currently serving as the Chief Hardware Officer for OpenAI, allegedly forwarded vendor data and proprietary company summaries to himself prior to resigning.

The defendants of the lawsuit, initiated in the US District Court for the Northern District of California include former senior electrical engineer, Chang Liu, and a former design vice president for the iPhone and Apple Watch, Tang Yew Tan.
