Drake wins huge and it has nothing to do with music
Drake’s triumph comes in an area where he has often tested his luck
Drake has recently delivered back-to-back album hits, further solidifying his position in the music industry.
Yet, beyond the music, the Toronto rapper has received a massive payday, and that is not from his songs.
Instead, it was from a bet he placed on Canada against South Africa in their match on Sunday, where the Maple Leaf Country won 1-0.
Before kick-off, Drizzy - who has a history of betting - flaunted a whopping $770,000 bet on his home country.
But $770,000 is a jaw-dropping sum.
Drake explained that he went bigger after a conversation with his friend, DJ Black Coffee.
"@realblackcoffee was chirping in the DM—I had to raise the STAKES," the rapper joked.
After the victory, the Grammy winner received a windfall of $231,000 profit on a payout of $1,001,000, according to Complex.
The latest win shone a spotlight on Drake’s gambling habit.
The rapper often made headlines for his eye-watering bets on NBA finals, UFC fights, and other sporting tournaments.
Drizzy’s headline-making bets, earlier this year, came under scrutiny by a report in Bloomberg.
The outlet reported that the One Dance hitmaker had an unusually high average success rate compared to other players on Stake.
But Ed Craven, co-founder of Stake, rejected the allegation that Drake was receiving special treatment.
