'Heartbroken' Barry Manilow breaks silence on starmaker Clive Davis' death

Barry Manilow finally broke the silence on the death of music legend Clive Davis.

The 83-year-old musician took to his Instagram handle to express his grief over the music executive's passing.

"My heart is heavy with the loss of my friend Clive Davis," Barry penned. "For fifty years we worked together, created together, argued together, and celebrated together. Yes, some would say it was business. But to Clive, it never was. It was family."

"And I was honored to be a part of his. Thank you Clive. I wish we could do it all again," added the Mandy hitmaker.

For those unversed, Clive passed away on Monday, June 22. He was 94.

The music executive's death was announced by his publicist.

“Davis passed away peacefully from age-related illness at the age of 94 at his home in Manhattan on Monday, June 22, surrounded by his family and loved ones," the statement read.

Throughout his decades-long career in the music industry, Clive shaped the careers of several stars, including Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston, Christina Aguilera, Billy Joel, and many others.

"To the world, our father was the iconic music legend whose vision, instincts, and relentless pursuit of excellence shaped the soundtrack of countless lives," the five-time Grammy winner's family said in a statement.

"He discovered, mentored, and championed the greatest artists in modern music history, leaving an indelible mark on culture that will endure for generations," the statement read. "To his family, Clive was Dad and Granddaddy, the steady presence at the centre of our lives, the source of wisdom, strength, encouragement, and unconditional love."
