Will there be 'Toy Story 6'? Tom Hanks teases what's next
Tom Hanks weighs in on the future of the 'Toy Story' franchise
Tom Hanks is letting fans in on the future of the Toy Story franchise.
The 69-year-old actor, who returned as Woody in Toy Story 5, isn't ruling out the idea of another animated movie, but he has very clear ideas about what would need to happen first.
“If you’re gonna do another Toy Story, it better be worthwhile,” Tom told Entertainment Weekly on Friday.
"It better be great. You better be examining some theme that is not just dragging it out because people like the title. I mean, it is a huge corporate business without a doubt, I’m not gonna discount that. But unless it’s good, new, fresh, there’s no reason to do it at all," he added.
With the advancement of artificial intelligence, Tom wonders whether Toy Story could continue without him, using the recordings he’s made as Woody over the past 30 years.
“Time is undefeated,” he said. “The question would be whether or not we could cobble together some version of me."
"Every word we have ever recorded in time in Toy Story is on digital media somewhere, so they could put together anything they would want," added The Phoenician Scheme star.
For those unversed, Toy Story 5 is now in cinemas.
