Oliver Tree's mom breaks silence on singer's tragic death after inheritance controversy
The American singer-songwriter tragically passed away in a helicopter collision on June 14
Oliver Tree's mother, Christine Begin Nickell, has finally broken her silence following the devastating death of her son and his resurfaced video about his inheritance plans.
The heartbroken mother mourned the loss of the When I'm Down singer by posting a poignant note on Facebook.
She honored her son, writing, "Our dear son Oliver, you made this world a better place."
"We are so proud of you. RIP," Nickell added with a childhood image of the late artist.
For those unversed, Tree tragically died in a helicopter crash in Brazil at the age of 32 after his aircraft, carrying five passengers, collided with another helicopter mid-air.
The Bury Me Alive singer was in Brazil for his first world tour and to promote his fourth studio album. He also performed in São Paulo on June 6.
Tree's mother's tribute came after the late musician's past interview resurfaced, in which he made pointed comments that his family won't inherit "a penny" from his wealth if he died.
“So when I die — I’ve set it up — my will is set up that when I pass, my family, no one’s going to get a penny,” he said during the April 25th episode of The Zach Sang Show.
He shared, “If I have a wife or kids or anything, [they’re] not getting a f****** penny. I’ll get my kids through college. That’s the agreement. But there’s not going to be a silver spoon. They’re taken care of because my dad worked on some stuff in the 2000s."
"The idea is, when I die, all the money is going to go back to artists," Oliver added.
