Brooklyn Beckham sparks fresh family feud rumours with World Cup commercial
Fans accuse Brooklyn Beckham of taking another swipe at family in viral World Cup ad
Brooklyn Beckham has come under fire after appearing to cash in on his ongoing family drama by referencing it in a new World Cup advert.
The 27-year-old aspiring chef recently starred in a World Cup campaign for food delivery company DoorDash. In the advert, Brooklyn says he is watching the FIFA World Cup from home despite having tickets to attend.
"These can go to someone… else," he said in the advertisement, while side-eyeing the camera with a grin.
He then puts the tickets into a delivery bag and tells the driver to give them to someone else.
The advertisement has now sparked criticism from some fans, who believe he is making light of tensions with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
Fans pointed to details in the background, including a luxury watch believed to be a gift from his father, David Beckham, and a stack of unopened letters while he continues to stay away from family events
Some also noticed a framed photo linked to a previous viral moment involving Brooklyn, while others suggested a snow globe seen in the advert could be a reference to Victoria Beckham's well-known collection.
Some critics accused Brooklyn of using his family drama for publicity and calling the advert "embarrassing" and "a bad PR move."
"Embarrassing, I thought he wanted to step away from his family but he’s cashing in on them still," one person wrote on Instagram. "Very sad for his family, I hope he finds his way back".
Another suggested Brooklyn to "Read the room," while a third social media user commented, "It’s a hateful jab toward his family, how can anyone be kind about this".
Someone on X branded him a "nasty little weed," adding, "All these advert digs at his parents during the world cup… Your parents have achieved more than u ever have .. and ever will!! Grow up".
Others defended him, saying he was simply showing a sense of humour and should be free to joke about his own life.
"So many haters here. I think it’s snarky and fun," one fan commented. "Brooklyn has been through a lot and it’s great to see he has a sense of humor".
A source also shed light on the advertisment, saying the original teaser had left Brooklyn's family "stunned," Metro reported.
"No one could have predicted he would do something like this. Monetising this situation will be heartbreaking for David and Victoria, especially after his dig at 'Brand Beckham' in his statement."
"Brooklyn has called for peace and privacy and this feels like the complete opposite by joking about their family fallout in front of the world."
On the other hand, David Beckham recently shut down an interviewer, calling his family strain a private issue.
"To be honest, I’m sorry to stop you there, but that’s a private matter. That’s the one thing that I don’t want to talk about," David told Variety.
