Anna Faris reveals how one call saved her Hollywood career
Anna Faris recalls facing personal and professional hardships, then everything changed
Anna Faris has been a successful actress. However, then a dark chapter hit in her life.
During this period, she experienced a personal disruption: her public divorce from Chris Pratt.
Then she exited the CBS sitcom Mom, and a slowdown in her career followed.
But then a call from producer Marlon Wayans came.
Faris revealed that this phone call marked a turnaround in her career because he offered her a role in Scary Movie 6.
The actress was previously a mainstay of the horror-comedy franchise.
Now that the sixth installment is in theaters, the actress is looking back at where horror-comedy started.
"I’m so happy I get to tell my story. "The whole thing has been a reconciliation and a victory within myself," she told Variety.
Faris recalled how she never planned to be a movie star; instead, her dream was to become a novelist.
"I know I’m Seattle cynical, but I guess L.A. infiltrated because I keep using the word 'journey.'"
"In 1999, I was graduating from the University of Washington with an English degree. I was going to go into marketing, but I wanted to be a novelist."
Then an audition was held for Scary Movie.
"Through a series of circumstances, I got an audition tape in front of Keenan Ivory Wayans."
Faris said, "It all happened so fast and was less of a dream of mine being realized and more of a dream being formed."
"I felt like someone blindfolded me, put me in a helicopter, and dropped me in a strange land. I’ve been waiting for this moment."
Scary Movie 6 became an instant hit, raking in $55 million in opening weekend, marking the franchise's best opener.
Now, delivering a hit, offers for Faris became manifold.
For example, she is set to star in the comedy Spa Weekend and the dark drama Primetime, beside Robert Pattinson.
