OpenAI reveals plan to bring personal AGI to every human
Recently, OpenAI also filed confidential S-1 for potential IPO soon after Anthropic
In today’s tech driven world, artificial intelligence represents the next great technological leap marked by the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI).
OpenAI is set to pursue this significant leap not for few people but for all human beings living on Earth , thereby envisioning a future where advanced AI is an affordable, abundant and distributed event to empower every single person.
In a recent blogpost published on June 8, OpenAI unveiled goal plans where the company is determined to bring “personal AGI to everyone on Earth.”
According to blogpost, currently OpenAI mainly has three goals, encompassing automated AI researchers, economic acceleration and personal AGI in every pocket.
The first goal revolved around building an automated AI researcher, capable of automating the research under the supervision of researchers. OpenAI aims for a significant fraction of research to be conducted by AI systems by March 2028. The development will help humanity to navigate the transition to the post-AGI world.
The second goal is about boosting the economy based on scientific progress, economic growth and productivity while ensuring the even distribution of its gains.
The third goal is primarily based on providing every person on Earth with access to a personal AGI, empowering them to use it however they choose.
According to OpenAI, the vision can be achieved in three phases. Phase one is conducting pure research toward achieving AGI and the second phase is about bringing real-world relevancy.
Phase 3 consists of economic reshaping, focusing on making advanced AI abundant, affordable, safe, useful, and accessible so that organizations and individuals can thrive.
“Now we are entering the third phase. The economy is beginning to reshape around AI. The central question now is how to make advanced AI abundant, affordable, safe, useful, and easy enough for every person and organization to benefit from it. Frontier capability is only part of the job. The bigger task is turning that capability into tools people can actually use to thrive,” the blogpost read.
“If we get this right, AI can become a foundation for greater productivity, creativity, scientific progress, and economic opportunity for the many, and we will achieve our mission: to ensure AGI benefits all of humanity.”
The announcement came on the same day when OpenAI files confidential S-1 for potential IPO.
