Love Island contestant George Knight has left the villa just days after entering the show as one of the latest “bombshell” arrivals.

The 28-year-old professional footballer joined the Mallorca villa on June 1 alongside fellow newcomer Yasmin. Their arrival immediately shook up the existing group of islanders, as they were given an early task that had a direct impact on the rest of the contestants.

A spokesperson for the ITV2 programme confirmed his exit in a statement, saying, “For private reasons, George has left the Love Island villa.” No additional details about his departure have been shared, and it is understood viewers will not see the moment he left on screen.

George’s short time in the villa saw him involved in one of the series’ earliest twists. Alongside Yasmin, he was given the power to help decide which islanders would be sent home after spending time getting to know the group.

Before entering the show, George played as a defensive midfielder for Dorking Wanderers FC. He previously had spells at clubs including Bracknell Town and youth-level football at Swindon, as well as time connected with Aldershot and Reading’s academy system.

During his introduction, George said he was open to getting to know everyone in the villa and wanted to keep his options open as relationships developed.

"You don’t want to get too deep, too early on. I’m open to getting to know everyone but as weeks go by, figure it out."

He then added, "I play midfield, so maybe I’d go for that. If someone walked in that was straight away my type obviously I’d jump at it."

While on the show, he formed early connections with several contestants, including Robyn and Mica, and was shown packing on PDA with Robyn during recent episodes.

His departure comes shortly after a major storyline twist in which two islanders, Ellie and Samraj, were initially dumped from the villa after a decision influenced by the new arrivals. However, viewers later learned that their exit was not final and that they had been given a second chance in the competition.

The series continues to air on ITV2 at 9pm.
