Janet Jackson made a rare appearance at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala
Janet Jackson has made a rare public appearance at the 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame Gala after the release and success of the biopic, Michael, which is based on the life of her late brother and the King of Pop, Michael Jackson.
She was there at the event to celebrate the induction of her 1989 album Rhythm Nation 1814, and took the opportunity to share a plea for peace, unity and positivity.
"It's beautiful to relive the memories attached to this project that is so, so precious to me," Janet said of the album that earned seven nominations and won Best Long Form Music Video at the 32nd Grammys.
Noting the album "still resonates on a deep and profound level," she added, "It's an ongoing force that fights bigotry and promotes understanding. As we celebrate tonight, let's remember that it transcends all borders, nationalities and faiths.”
"May the music of Rhythm Nation continue to bring us together in peace. And may that peace allow us to celebrate this precious gift of life that God has given us,” she added.
Other 2026 Grammy Hall of Fame inducted recordings included 2Pac's All Eyez On Me, Heart's Dreamboat Annie, Funkadelic's Maggot Brain and Radiohead's OK Computer.
This comes after the biopic Michael was released in which Janet Jackson reportedly turned down the opportunity to be cast in it.
When asked why she does not appear as a character, her sister La Toya Jackson told Variety, "I wish everybody was in the movie. She was asked and she kindly declined so you have to respect her wishes."
