A latest development has surfaced related to the kidnapping case of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY Show co-host Savannah Guthrie, who disappeared from her Arizona home on February 1.

The law enforcement authorities are currently navigating several leads in the search for Nancy. During the investigation, the FBI released chilling videos. The first one showed the footage of an armed, masked man at her home.

The second video also demonstrated a masked man who was seen stealing plants not far from Guthrie’s home. According to the Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, the man seen in the second video is unrelated to Nancy’s abduction case.

The significant statement was revealed during a May 1, 2026, broadcast on Tucson’s KVOA. Despite local speculation, the anchor Andrew Capasso confirmed that the individual caught "stealing plants" near Guthrie’s home is not linked to the disappearance.

The broadcast also featured an interview with the local sheriff, who corroborated that the plant theft appears to be an isolated incident.

During the investigation, authorities also recovered physical evidence, including blood on her porch, DNA, hair evidence, and data from Nancy’s Apple watch. Despite all this evidence, the case has remained unsolved for months.

On the contrary, the criminal justice experts believed that door video and the physical evidence could lead to breakthrough in this case.

Eric Draeger, a former Milwaukee police detective, said, “When you get video, it opens up many new avenues and details.”

But, the case is still ongoing shrouded in mystery. The police are still unable to uncover Nancy's status and the motive behind her kidnapping. The FBI and the Guthrie family also announced rewards of approximately over $1.2 million for information related to Nancy.
