Twist to 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' meme: 'No AI used'
The meme about Miranda Priestly was featured in 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'
It's not an AI. Concertgoers went to watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 and stumbled upon a Miranda Priestly meme.
At first, the image seemed to have been born from a prompt. However, in reality, it was not.
Instead, an artist, Alexix Franklin, re-imagined the iconic character in a fast-food chain as a worker, quipping, "Would you like some lies with that?"
The creator behind the savage punchline and the art itself took to Instagram, writing she was asked by the film's director, David Frankel, to create the meme.
“I got to paint this at the request of [director] David Frankel for The Devil Wears Prada 2 (it shows up in the movie),” she penned while attaching a video of the process.
She continued, “Absolutely no disrespect to Queen Meryl, but this is something I would’ve painted in my free time, so when they asked me to do this, it was nothing but fun.”
“I got to paint this… it shows up in the movie,” adding it was “nothing but fun.”
With the threat of AI surging in Hollywood, the studio's hiring of an artist should be welcomed as a fresh start.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is in theatres.
