'Jeopardy!' genius Jamie Ding’s historic winning streak breaks after 31 games
'Jeopardy!' champion Jamie Ding remained undefeated in 31 games
Jamie Ding’s historic winning streak on Jeopardy! has ended after he maintained it in a great number of games.
The 33-year-old self-described bureaucrat and law student, who hails from New Jersey, stood victorious in 31 games straight and won $882,605 in prize money before he lost the game to Greg Shahade on the Monday, April 27 episode of Jeopardy!
While conversing with PEOPLE magazine, Ding stated that he is feeling mixed emotions as his run has ended, but it was a remarkable journey.
Informing the outlet about Shahade beating him by 13,990 points, the Princeton graduate said, "I think my last game is unusual, because I was a super champ, but I also lost in a runaway, which I feel like is the first time that ever happened.”
"It almost makes me feel better about the thing because there wasn't really one clue or whatever that everything hinged on," he quipped.
Notably, that was the reason Ding chose to pen a farewell note that said "TTFN," (ta ta for now) on his final jeopardy answer.
"It being a runaway means that I got to write a goodbye message instead of nothing at all. I wouldn't have done that if there had even been a chance of me coming out with the victory,” he said.
It is pertinent to mention that Jamie Ding secured second position as James Holzhauer won 32 consecutive games on Jeopardy! in 2019.
