Florida man sends 9mm bullet in 'love letter' to ex after stalking
The accused also allegedly threatened to shoot her new boyfriend
A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly stalking his former girlfriend for months and sending her a threatening letter containing a live bullet.
Deputies say the woman contacted authorities on January 28, claiming her ex-boyfriend, Jakir Hasan, had been repeatedly sending texts, handwritten letters and social media messages while following her movements for around six months.
The pair had ended their two-year relationship several months earlier, but she told officers the contact did not stop. At one point, Hasan allegedly threatened to shoot her new boyfriend.
The most alarming incident came earlier this month, when her brother found an envelope left on the driveway overnight. The envelope contained several letters and a live 9mm round.
According to the affidavit obtained by Law & Crime, the letters expressed regret about the breakup and asked to reconcile. The same day, flowers were also delivered to the home.
The woman told police her former partner owned a handgun and had made troubling comments about harming himself.
Hasan was later taken into custody by Broward County Sheriff’s deputies, where he allegedly admitted sending the bullet and letters and placing a tracking device on her car.
He has been charged with aggravated stalking and installing and using a tracking device without consent. He was released on $10,000 bail and barred from contacting his ex-girlfriend.
