Savannah Guthrie misses 'Today' show, addresses mom’s disappearance
Savannah Guthrie is addressing her mom Nancy’s distressing disappearance
Savannah Guthrie missed the Monday, Feb. 2 episode of Today show's broadcast in the midst of her family’s search for her missing mother, Nancy.
The NBC co-anchor’s 84-year-old mom went missing on January 31.
Sheinelle Jones filled in for Guthrie alongside Craig Melvin. The duo addressed the matter on Monday, hours after the news broke out via news outlets.
“We want to get right to what is a deeply personal story for us, Nancy Guthrie, Savannah’s beloved mother, has been reported missing in Arizona,” Melvin shared.
Guthrie’s statement to the show was then shared, which said, “On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”
Sheriff Chris Nanos raised concern about the disappearance and revealed that a homicide team has been deployed due to what they found at the scene.
The police are using airplanes, drones, helicopters and search-and-rescue dogs on loan from Border Patrol to find Nancy.
Nanos also raised concern about Nancy Guthrie not being in good physical health but noted that she has no cognitive issues.
