Why Bowen Yang ignored Matt Bomer at Emmys revealed
Bowen Yang and Matt Bomer crossed paths at the Emmys
Saturday Night Live alum Bowen Yang and Kristen Wiig once made Matt Bomer wait for their attention.
Yang hosted Wiig on a recent episode of his and Matt Rogers’ podcast Las Culturistas, where the duo recalled presenting at the Emmys with Seth Meyers and Maya Rudolph.
He asked, "Another thing that I will never forget is: Remember the four versions of the presenter copy we had for the Emmys that one year?"
"Because we weren't sure if Maya was going to make it, because she was sick. Seth was maybe not going to be able to do it," he continued.
It was a demanding and tough situation, since the duo had to write and rewrite their bits based on who was showing up.
"It was me, you, Seth, and Maya presenting, walking up, doing a bit about [show creator Lorne Michaels] winning too many Emmys or something," he recalled.
The duo was so engrossed in what they were doing that they ended up pretty much ignoring Matt Bomer.
"Kristen and I were in that dressing room with our pencils, while Matt Bomer was sitting in the other corner, wanting to say hi to us," Yang admitted. "And we're like, 'We're in the middle of something.'"
At this point, Wiig noted that they did say hello to the White Collar star.
Yang agreed, saying, "We said hello. We weren't rude. But you and I were locked in."
Bowen Yang recently exited SNL after seven seasons as a cast member (2019-2025).
